Distress Ink Bee Card - Spring Has Sprung

You need bees to make fab flowers.. besides this guy is soo cute!!
The bees are coloured with Promarkers.

Update: Although this looks like a stencil was used, there was not.  Instead I took a piece of scrap paper and used the edge as a solid line to ink out from.  I used Squeezed Lemonade distress ink.

Girly Lawn Fawn Card

The image is Lawn Fawn, the sentiment Neat and Tangled (from the Better Together set), the bkg stamp Hero Arts and the die is from My Favorite Things. The little girl is suppose to be floating with her sundae. Swimming and sundaes- mmmmm my favorites!

For the background I put distress ink colours one at a time, onto my acrylic block and then pressed them into the paper.

got Wings?

Thinking about angels protecting us.  Angels after as, point the way to God- who protects.  However, 'got wings' could mean so many different things to different people; such as encouraging someone to take flight.

To make this card, I first put down embossing paste with gold embossing powder and heat set it.  I purposely let some of the embossing overhang the edge for interest and a messy look (because life is).  Then I painted the whole paper with black acrylic paint.  Before it was dry I used a baby wipe to remove the paint on the gold embossing.  I then took three colours of distress ink and when into the background with them (candied apple, pine needles and salty ocean).  Then I took two background stamps with Hero Arts Unicorn White ink and inked up the background.  After this I splattered white paint on the background, smudging it here and there as well.

I then cut out two wings with a background for each and the wings? sentiment with my Cameo.  I painted the wings? black and then added blue dollar store glitter with clear glue.  I painted the front piece of the wings yellow and blue and the back white and black (mixing the colours in places).  I sprinkled the backings of the wings with clear sparkly dollar store glitter and painted a coat of Stevenson Professional Acrylic in Iridescent Pearl over the yellow and blue wing fronts.  Lastly, I used my studio G alpha set and embossed the word 'got' on black paper, and then I assembled the card.  I add white string for detail and put foam squares on the backs of the wings and the black paper.

Neat and Tangled Better Together Boy Card

I used Neat and Tangle's Better Together stamp set for this boy card.  The background is suppose to have a distress look, but because the Hero Arts background stamp I was using didn't have a boarder I swooshed Versamark ink around all the sides and added gold embossing powder to create this look.

To get the green background I used three different distress inks and swooshed them (one at a time) onto my acrylic block.  Then I lightly squirted the ink with water and dabbed it onto the paper.  I did this four or five times and built up the colour layers.

The little guy is coloured with Promarkers (a alcohol marker like Copics) and the sentiment 'Hello' is inked in black Versafine on velum, with clear embossing powder poured over top and heated.

I am playing in these three challenges:

Be a (Gold) Pineapple

I cut out this pineapple on my Cameo.  Its perfect for cards because the details aren't too fine.  I put together the sentiment with a Studio G alpha set.  I put the cut out pineapple onto black paper (just laid it there without adhesive) and then filled in the holes with the inside shapes (gluing them down). Then I took the cut out pine apple and turned it into its own card, thus creating two cards.  I LOVE pineapples.  They have great shape and detail!  I would love to take this image and create a stencil to do some stenciling around a future home.

I kept this card simple because I wanted it to look elegant.

On the card inside:
stand tall,
wear a crown,
be sweet on the inside.

Better Together Neat and Tangled Heart

I used Neat and Tangled's Better Together set with Lawn Fawn paper in the background.  The girl is suppose to represent myself as a child (I was naturally blond back then) and my two brothers.  One of my brothers does have darker skin then the rest of us; much like Anne of Green Gables' brown boy (her son in later books).

Newton's Nook Aloha Newton

I used the Newton's Nook Aloha Newton for this card.  Newton's hobby is his ukulele- which I was forced to play in grade five.  I hated it.  Ironically, if I had been told it was a instrument of Hawaii I probably would have wanted to play (I love tropical places and anything that goes with them).  Mahalo means thanks in Hawaiian.
I love Newton Nook stamps so much that I introduced them to Scrapbooks By Design (in Canada). :)
Wohoo!  I just won the top 5 award over at Passion for Promarkers for this card!  :)
